Holiday Cranberry Sauce
We decided to step inside this week to share our favorite cranberry sauce recipe just in time for Thanksgiving. There is no substitute to a fresh cranberry sauce, and this tart treat is sure to please.
Ingredients
Preparation
Combine the orange juice, lemon juice, orange zest and sugar in a small saucepan and bring it to a simmer over medium heat. Add the cranberries and bring the mixture back to a simmer, stirring occasionally. The cranberries will split and soften after about 7 minutes. Once the cranberries have softened continue to cook the sauce over medium heat, stirring frequently, until it has thickened--about 7 more minutes.
We also love adding a cinnamon stick when initially adding the cranberries. Simmer for a couple of minutes with the sauce and then discard. The cinnamon adds a nice depth to the sauce's flavor.
